GrazeMCA, Sydney

Quintessentially Sydney, GrazeMCA is fast becoming renowned for its casual-seafood dining with a million dollar view. With its spectacular harbour backdrop taking in the life and majesty of Circular Quay to its wonderful ambience, quality of service and consistent standard of cuisine, Graze MCA is such an exciting addition to the Sydney foodie scene.

I recently discovered this place late last year and since then have become very much a regular popping along to enjoy both their breakfast and lunch menus.

Before I go on, I just have to mention this view. The harbour, the ferries, the bridge, the cruise ships and of course the Opera House… A lot of restaurants have great views, but this? The view from GrazeMCA isn’t looking down or around buildings, it’s front row at the show, and you’re practically a part of it! The location is also great for people watching and taking in Sydney’s harbourside culture.

Nestled on the ground floor of the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA), this stylishly-chic restaurant has become a hub for corporate clientele during the week or international visitors wanting top notch Australian cuisine in glorious surroundings for breakfast or lunch. Graze MCA is also the perfect location for a relaxed lunch with friends and family.

One of the benefits which is a huge plus in my books is that all the tables are outdoors with unbeatable views, so there is no disappointment when turning up to find you’ve been placed inside.

Now, not only do I keep coming back for the view, the menu definitely knows how to get your taste buds dancing! It equally appeals to business lunch types and tourists. Also the menu prices are very decent. Sometimes you can be stung in such a tourist hotspot but the restaurant is honest with their pricing, which allows you to splurge and get that second bottle of wine! Shared dishes are encouraged and the head chef uses the best fresh, seasonal Australian produce, cooked simply so you can still taste the natural flavours.

I tried the signature dish of Bouillabaisse which was exceptional (see pictures below). For entree I stuck to the classics – salt and pepper calamari and freshly shucked oysters, which definitely hit the spot and will not disappoint.

I would also recommend trying out GrazeMCA for breakfast. Whether it be before visiting an exhibition at the MCA or before a big shopping day in the city, it is such a lovely way to start the day. My favourite meal of the day is breakfast and if you’re anything like me you always um and ah about going for the sweet or savoury option. I went for the corn fritters which I can safely say is now my favorite breakfast dish in Sydney!! The fritter is made with a pancake-like batter so you have the savoury kick with the bacon and a hint of sweetness to hit the spot. Delicious! And still crazing it!
