Imagine a flash mob with 3,000 people, add food and drink and you’d have something very similar to Diner en Blanc. Last Saturday night, Bondi locals watched on thousands of people suddenly descend on Bondi Beach, unpack chairs and tables and then dine on a three course meal as waves crashed upon the beach!

Diner En Blanc has become of one of my favourite events of the year. This is the second year that Diner en Blanc has taken place in Sydney (last year it was held on the grass outside The Museum of Contemporary Art) but it all started in Paris 25 years ago (oh the history!). Diner en Blanc – meaning “the white dinner” – was conceived by Francois Pasquier who, in 1988, assembled a small group of friends. They each wore white so they could easily find each other in Bois de Boulogne, a large public park in Paris.

The event is now held around the world in cities that include New York, Buenos Aires, Singapore, Barcelona, London, Moscow and Auckland. In Australia, it has taken place in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney. Whenever I travel I always do a quick Google to see if a Diner En Blanc is held at the time I am visiting. Definitely something I would recommend doing also!

We were lucky this year that ‘all white everything’ has been a trend, making selecting an outfit a breeze!

What I wore:
Dress: I decided to wear this gorgeous Zimmerman silk one shoulder dress. It is a featherweight silk in a fitted one-shoulder shift, finished with shapely, asymmetric pleats. It was perfect for the occasion and something that I could frolic along the beach in and enjoy the night! FabSugar have the dress available (and also in different colours).
Shoes: Barefoot. Heels were off within moments of hitting the sand!

If you have been to one before I would love to hear your thoughts!
