One of the coolest things about Rio is that there are markets that pop up all across the streets of Rio, especially on weekends. One of my favorites is Ipanema Farmer’s markets. Ipanema markets are on every weekend and locals from far and wide gather to sell their fresh produce. There are samples galore and the locals are very friendly and encourage you to try everything. Make sure you have some cash though as you do feel slightly obliged to buy something – but trust me – you’ll want to!

Drifting up and down the aisles is really quite beautiful as you are surround by all the bright fruit and veg. The markets allow for total immersion into the rhythm and culture of the foods native to a region.

Here are a couple of shots. Enjoy,

Lxx
